CUNY Re-Indigenization

The Archival Technologies Lab provides a secretariat for the City University of New York (CUNY) Re-Indigenization Network, which is an informal group of faculty, staff and students that is working towards the re-Indigenization of CUNY spaces. This work includes securing funds to pay local Indigenous communities for their labor and expertise, pushing for the adoption of land acknowledgements co-created with Indigenous communities, critically reviewing syllabi, and library, archive, museum and art collections, appropriately incorporating Indigenous practices in official ceremonies, asking questions about place names (including building names) and holidays, and moving towards reparation and rematriation.

The network communicates through a Slack channel. To join the channel, email james [DOT] lowry [AT] qc [DOT] cuny [DOT] edu
